Project Engineer – Construction
Orion Engineers, PLLC is seeking a Project Engineer to assist our team in delivering engineering services on existing projects and pursuing new opportunities. As a Construction Engineer you will hone technical skills while gaining broad exposure to project accounting, client service, marketing, and business development.

Responsibilities
Assist the Construction Management team in plan preparation, quantity calculations, and geometric design
Perform pavement marking/signing, drainage design, traffic studies, and traffic signal design
Write reports, develop specifications, estimate costs, and design roadway lighting
Research design options, study code requirements, and prepare environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and other business development efforts
Perform non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection, materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on construction engineering
Professional Engineer Licensure in the State of Illinois
Minimum five years progressively responsible experience as a Construction Engineer or similar position
Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
Familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design, plan preparation, and construction engineering
Experience with MicroStation design software; proficiency with E-Builder, CMMS, and Primavera is a plus
Valid driver’s license and good work history to use company-owned vehicles for project locations
