OPEN RANK - Academic Division Chief, Gastroenterology - Clinical Educator or Physician Scientist
Locations: 12901 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL, 33612, US
Responsibilities
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
Coordinate operations and outcomes of all clinical activities of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition faculty and staff located at USF and TGH locations. Improve clinical operations, especially patient access and referring physician satisfaction.
Demonstrate a deep commitment to quality and safety in patient care and contribute to value-based care by facilitating hospital throughput and cancer screenings.
Co-lead the TGH GI & GI Surgery Service Line and partner with TGH administrative leadership to enhance the national reputation of services at TGH and expand gastroenterology services at TGH and its sites.
Contribute to the Division’s academic culture by launching a clinical research portfolio, expanding clinical trials, and engaging faculty in scholarly work.
Mentor faculty who practice at affiliate sites (e.g., VA and Moffitt) with involvement in research, publications, promotion and tenure support, and fellowship education outputs. Support a competitive fellowship program and integrate discovery with clinical practice.
Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor, normally have produced creative work or research in refereed journals and be a recognized authority in the field.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent. Obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties are performed.
Must participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine. Must be board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
