Overview

We seek a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work as a computational scientist in the laboratory of Dr Kunal Rai, in the Genomic Medicine Department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. The position focuses on the discovery of cancer-driving epigenome networks by applying computational methods for the analysis of single-cell multiome and spatial transcriptomics and epigenomics (ATAC-Seq/CUT&Tag) datasets and integrating with complex high-dimensional omics datasets from tumor samples across cancer types/malignancies. This role will collaborate with a group of wet-lab and computational scientists to derive novel biological insights and identify biomarkers and therapies. Responsibilities

Apply computational methods to single-cell multiome, spatial transcriptomics and epigenomics (ATAC-Seq/CUT&Tag) datasets and integrate with other high-dimensional omics data from tumor samples across cancer types. Collaborate with wet-lab and computational scientists to derive biological insights and identify biomarkers and therapies. Develop and apply computational tools to gain insights from bulk, single-cell, and spatial epigenomic and transcriptomic data. Devise hypotheses, design analytical plans, and execute strategies to perform innovative science. Work in multidisciplinary cross-functional teams within the lab and department of genomic medicine. Gain experience in grant writing and training junior scientists/students; leadership training opportunities for suitable candidates. Adhere to institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. Qualifications

Ph.D. in biology, mathematics, or computation science (or related field). Strong skills in statistics and programming, particularly R and Python. Interest in applying state-of-the-art computational/statistical methods to complex data. Experience with analysis of epigenomic data, single-cell and spatial data is highly desired. Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment. How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit a Cover Letter describing past research experience/skills/accomplishments, a Curriculum Vitae, and the contact information of three referees to Dr. Kunal Rai at Krai@mdanderson.org with the subject line "Postdoctoral Fellow - Application - Applicant's Name".
