The responsibilities of the Children’s Advocacy Center Pediatrician include clinical, administrative, and systems development roles. The candidate will be viewed as a physician leader in child advocacy throughout Santa Clara County. Ideal candidates are experienced general pediatricians with additional child abuse pediatrics experience beyond residency and a strong interest in caring for vulnerable populations including children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, foster care involvement, homelessness, food insecurity, and youth with histories of commercial sexual exploitation (CSEC). The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise in forensic evaluations of children who may have experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect; an understanding of trauma impact on emotional and psychological well-being; and the ability to collaborate with leaders and organizations to improve integrated services for vulnerable children and youth. Responsibilities

Forensic evaluations for child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, and neglect at the Medical Clinic at the Children’s Advocacy Center and at SCVMC. Clinical hours and call schedule to be determined. Consultation in child physical abuse and neglect as requested by the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS/CPS), Law Enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, and clinical providers within SCVHHS and affiliated external clinics. Collaboration with the Pediatric Diagnostic Center and potential participation in developmental assessments in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Supervision of CAC advanced practice providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners). Provide ongoing education and develop educational materials for staff pediatricians, residents, and physicians regarding signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. Provide annual training for pediatric and emergency departments regarding mandatory reporting requirements and recognition of abuse indicators. Support SCVMC’s Child Abuse Prevention Committee and collaborate with county and community partners to develop centralized trauma-informed resources for children who have survived abuse and neglect. Represent SCVMC on county-wide organizations advocating for children’s health and safety as appropriate. Qualifications

Board-eligible/board-certified (BE/BC) pediatrician with fellowship training in child abuse pediatrics. Experience beyond residency in child abuse pediatrics and a demonstrated interest in advocacy for vulnerable children and youth. Clinical expertise in forensic evaluations and trauma-informed care; ability to collaborate across disciplines and organizations. Benefits
