Job Description The DNA Group is seeking an expert-level Technical Writer to create and maintain a wide range of high-quality documentation for public and internal audiences. This role demands a strong ability to translate complex technical, legal, and policy-related concepts into clear, accessible documents that support data governance, regulatory compliance, and program transparency.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain technical documentation including data governance manuals, stewardship procedures, audit policies, risk management plans, and reporting standards.
Ensure documentation supports data availability, integrity, quality, and security, while complying with federal and local data privacy regulations.
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to research, draft, and edit accurate and consistent documentation.
Maintain high standards for readability, grammar, and clarity; review and edit work produced by others.
Define and document governance and stewardship practices, including procedures for future updates and revisions.
Be familiar with educational research terminology and capable of producing structured, maintainable, and scalable documentation systems.
Coordinate visuals and ensure final documentation conforms to internal standards.
Create public-facing content that communicates complex educational and vocational program information clearly.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
Required Experience
Writing technical instruction manuals and how-to guides: 10 years (Required)
Writing policies and procedures related to federal and local compliance: 7 years (Required)
Expertise in MS Office and Visio: 10 years (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience: 16 years (Required)
