Fast Growing Automation Integrator based in the Seattle area seeks an Applications Engineer to join their growing team. The Applications Engineer works hand in hand with the sales team to develop cutting edge automated packaging systems for our customers. As a technical expert in industrial automation & packaging equipment, this role is key in the development of complex and effective automation strategies for a variety of packaging applications. This role also coordinates the integration and Installation of automated equipment for customer projects. This position requires regular travel to a variety of customer sites. Reports to: Director of Engineering Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Sales team and other engineering team members, participate in project scoping with customers to develop automated solutions for manufacturing & packaging processes. Apply technical expertise to select appropriate solutions for various manufacturing & packaging processes. Gather pertinent information to develop right-sized solutions for customer projects. Contribute to large-scale projects, including technical investigation, technical solution development, and manufacturing studies. Serve as a subject matter expert in packaging automation systems. Project Proposals and Quotes for Systems (40%) Develop proposals and quotes in collaboration with the sales team and other engineering team members. Key Note: Present proposals for projects to customers. Travel to customer locations to identify solutions and ensure correct elements are included in project proposals. Pitch to customers and win bids on projects. Participate in machinery integration and installation activities at company headquarters and at customer locations. Assist in technical activities with suppliers and the engineering team. Assemble and build electromechanical systems and machines. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing and installation of new equipment as needed. Provide technical recommendations on projects. Coach and mentor team members regarding troubleshooting or technical decisions. Participate and contribute to hiring decisions for technical personnel on the team. Project Management (10%) Manage automation projects from inception to execution and closing. Work with scheduling team to identify time required for service, installation activities, etc. Define schedules and priorities for self and others. Manage personnel to effectively implement automated systems. Ensure overall customer satisfaction on project implementation. Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering Required. Degrees in other engineering disciplines considered with relevant industry experience. Preferred experience and education
3 years minimum experience including process development and equipment integration for an industrial, high-volume production environment Expertise in Packaging Equipment, Conveyors, etc. Technical certifications (Electrical, robotics, specific machines maintenance) Seniority level
