Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Applications Engineer This exciting role will be responsible for engaging directly with clients to understand their automation needs, designing customized automation solutions, and supporting the quoting and specification process for entire automated manufacturing lines and conveyance systems. A solid understanding of industrial automation and designing robotic systems will be needed to be successful in this role. The position involves a balance of design, project management, customer engagement, and hands‑on technical work, requiring regular travel to customer sites to ensure successful implementation and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Proactive, positive attitude with regular travel (30‑40% of the time) to various customer sites across Western WA.
50% field work at client sites and 50% design work.
Automation System Design (30%): Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to scope, design, and develop automation solutions for manufacturing and packaging processes; serve as a subject‑matter expert in packaging automation systems.
Proposals, Quotes & Customer Engagement (40%): Develop and present project proposals and quotes; travel to customer sites to assess requirements and pitch tailored automation solutions.
Automation Integration & Installation (20%): Support machinery integration, assembly, and testing at company and customer sites; participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), installation, and troubleshooting activities; provide technical recommendations and mentor team members.
Project Management (10%): Oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring schedules, priorities, and resources align with customer requirements; manage personnel and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout implementation.
Troubleshooting & Client Support: Provide ongoing technical support during the design and implementation phases, addressing client inquiries and troubleshooting system‑related issues.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for each project, including specifications, proposals, and technical reports for both internal and client‑facial purposes.
Qualifications
Available to travel either by car or by air (30‑40% of the time) within the Pacific Northwest area as required.
Ability to work on‑site in Auburn, WA when needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in automation or machine design engineering, focusing on designing manufacturing lines and automation/robotics systems.
Proven ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and deliver tailored technical solutions.
Knowledge and experience with packaging equipment and materials preferred.
Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for designing robotics systems.
Familiarity with food industry automation equipment and systems such as conveyors, robots (FANUC, Omron, SCADA, Kuka), labelers, and food packaging—including meat, seafood, and pet food—preferred.
Ability to complete all responsibilities in a timely and professional manner while maintaining quality.
Effective written and oral communication skills at all levels of the organization and with customers.
Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn; owns mistakes and seeks to increase knowledge.
Salary Range $100,000‑120,000 depending on experience.
