Position Summary
Estimates the amount of oil or gas that can be recovered from wells. Determines the natural energy sources available, the most useful methods in recovering the maximum amount of oil or gas from the reservoir, and the fluid and pressure distribution throughout the reservoir. Creates models to estimate forecasts and economics on recoverable resources. Reviews various reservoir engineering data, geologic and petrophysical information, production data and completion information, facility information, marketing contracts & statements, and study reports, and recommends programs for drilling of exploratory/development wells, well workovers, well completion and production methods. Focused on basin wide Unconventional Bakken subsurface evaluations and Chord asset development. This position is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
Leads reservoir studies and simulation with guidance; constructs complex models
Tracks performance vs. forecast and recommends optimization strategies
Participates in asset planning and scenario modeling, including acquisitions
Leads development planning efforts and supports injection/producer optimization
Enhances surveillance practices to improve field performance
Develops workflows and statistical models
Evaluates and recommends trade and acquisition opportunities
Continuously evaluates subsurface assets by analyzing geologic, engineering, and production data
Ensures development plans deliver on forecasts and yield attractive economic outcomes
Characterizes reservoirs and defines drainage patterns to inform hydraulic fracture design and well spacing strategies
Utilizes data analytics, manages large datasets, and applies machine learning principles to improve decision-making
Performs lookbacks on prior projects, minor in-basin acquisitions, well testing, data gathering design, and project management
Collaborates with team members to develop best practices and innovative workflows
Shares and implements best practices across Business Development and other teams within the Chord organization

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
7 years Industry experience
3 years functioning in a Reservoir Engineering capacity
Good analytical skills with a coachable mindset
Exposure to the speed of business in unconventional exploitation with multi drilling rig programs.
Experienced with common reservoir engineering workflows
Experienced user of Python tools and data mining
Strong interpersonal Skills
Comfortable working team environment.
Good presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
Ability to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
