Tax Accountant / Tax Manager – Public Accounting Services

Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Join a highly collaborative Tax Services team supporting one of the most innovative and respected public accounting firms in the country. This role offers the opportunity to build deep technical expertise while working with managers and partners on high-impact projects across multiple industries. The team provides tax compliance and consulting services for clients in sectors including real estate, construction, manufacturing, and other pass-through entities.
This role is open to
staff- and manager-level CPAs , depending on experience.
Responsibilities
Analyze client tax records and financials to prepare accurate tax returns in compliance with firm standards.
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including: Form 1120 (C-Corp), Form 1120S (S-Corp), Form 1065 (Partnership), and individual returns where applicable.
Build specialized knowledge in tax credits, incentives, and industry-specific tax structures.
Address partnership and pass-through tax issues (e.g., 704(b), 754).
Evaluate tax implications of ownership transfers, business transactions, and asset sales.
Research current tax law, compliance updates, and emerging trends.
Identify opportunities to improve client tax strategies and internal processes.
Collaborate with partners, managers, and client personnel to deliver high-quality results.
Qualifications
Active CPA license required .
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
1–5+ years of tax compliance experience (staff: 1–2 years, manager: 3–5+ years).
Strong experience with S-Corps, partnerships, and pass-through entities.
Experience preparing and reviewing
Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065 , and related schedules.
Public accounting background preferred, ideally from Big 4, national, or top regional firms.
Experience in real estate, construction, manufacturing, or other generalist tax backgrounds is a plus.
Knowledge of tax credits or incentive programs (LIHTC, HTC, NMTC, Opportunity Zones) is helpful but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
Team player with a collaborative mindset and leadership potential.
