We are an integrated team of technologists, investment professionals, operations experts working to help our clients stay at the pioneering front of wealth management.**The Opportunity**AssetMark seeks a Data Science Vice President —an exceptional senior individual contributor—who will act as the business’s principal authority and catalyst for Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics innovation. This critical role will drive hands-on leadership of key high-impact data science and AI projects, rapidly accelerating AssetMark’s AI ambitions across all business domains. The ideal candidate stays at the forefront of the discipline, expertly identifying emerging AI trends, experimenting with best-in-class techniques, and engineering scalable predictive and generative intelligence directly into workflows, platforms, and client solutions.**We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Concord, CA office.****Key Responsibilities****Strategic Vision & Leadership*** Act as the lead enterprise data scientist, setting a bold vision for the adoption and execution of AI/ML, and representing AssetMark’s thought leadership on AI and data science both internally and beyond.* Identify and prioritize the highest-value, highest-impact AI opportunities in partnership with business stakeholders, technology, and executive sponsors.* Serve as a trusted advisor and internal consultant, guiding teams in defining use cases and shaping data-driven, transformative strategies throughout the enterprise.**AI & Advanced Analytics Delivery*** Independently design, build, and deploy advanced statistical models, machine learning and deep learning algorithms, including generative AI solutions, recommendation engines, and intelligent automation.* Lead experimental pilots and rapid prototyping, validating business impact and scaling algorithms to production in close coordination with product and engineering teams.* Maintain strong focus on the end-to-end model lifecycle: hypothesis development, data prep, model training, validation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.**Cross-Functional Collaboration*** Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business teams to translate ambiguous challenges into well-defined data science solutions.* Educate business leaders in identifying AI/ML opportunities, articulating value, and adopting advanced analytics into products and processes.* Provide expert guidance—both strategic and hands-on—on responsible AI development, data ethics, and explainability in alignment with regulatory requirements.**Thought Leadership, Innovation, & Best Practices*** Scan the market for breakthroughs in data science, AI frameworks, LLMs, and GenAI, experimenting and championing promising approaches at AssetMark.* Pioneer and codify best practices in algorithm development, reproducibility, MLOps, and responsible AI.* Author technical documentation and thought pieces, and lead community-of-practice engagements within AssetMark’s technology and analytics teams.**Qualifications & Experience****Technical & Domain Expertise*** 12+ years deep hands-on experience in data science: predictive modeling, machine learning, NLP, and/or GenAI, with a record of production-quality delivery in financial services, wealth/asset management, or comparable data-rich industries.* Expertise in statistical modeling, supervised/unsupervised learning, recommender systems, deep learning, LLMs, time series, and AI engineering best practices.* Proficient with modern cloud/ML stack (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure/AWS, MLFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch), end-to-end pipeline development, and model monitoring.* Strong coding (Python, SQL, relevant libraries) and advanced analytics visualization skills.**Business & Communication*** Proven ability to translate complex models and outputs into actionable, strategic business insights for technical and non-technical audiences.* Experience developing use cases and business cases for AI/ML in a highly regulated financial services environment, with familiarity in wealth management data, privacy, and compliance frameworks.**Education*** Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field; publications, patents, or external recognition in industry or academia preferred.* Accelerate AI and data science innovation at a market-leading wealth management platform positioned for explosive growth.* Drive strategic, hands-on impact—with the autonomy and resources to shape data-powered client solutions and enterprise platforms.* Collaborate with mission-driven teams focused on advisor and client empowerment, with a robust technology and data foundation.* Set industry benchmarks for AI deployment in wealth management by pioneering leading-edge solutions and responsible innovation.If you are a passionate, world-class data scientist seeking senior IC scope to pioneer AI, and to architect the future of analytics for a growth-focused organization, we invite you to apply.*Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $268,000-$298,000.**This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location.
