The Senior Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Engineer plays a pivotal role in MacLean-Fogg’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives across the organization. This role will serve as a key resource in driving compliance, continuous improvement, and strategic alignment with corporate EHS goals. The position involves strategic planning, team leadership, and collaboration with cross‑functional departments.
Position Type:
Exempt/Full-time
Pay Range:
$80,000 - $115,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
Travel:
Up to 10%
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enforce EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and ISO‑14001/ISO‑45001 certification pertaining to company operations.
Lead risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety and environmental hazards.
Conduct routine safety audits and facility inspections to monitor compliance and detect potential hazards.
Provide training to employees on EHS protocols, safety procedures, and emergency response.
Investigate incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Develop and maintain environmental programs, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
Monitor and report on sustainability metrics (e.g., energy use, waste reduction, water conservation, carbon footprint).
Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
Evaluate equipment, processes, and facilities for safety and environmental impact.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to EHS activities, including incident reports and compliance audits.
Promote a culture of safety and well‑being among employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Proficient in conducting and interpreting risk assessments and root cause analyses.
Ability to effectively interpret guidelines and policy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence others across all levels.
Organized and detail‑oriented with excellent documentation and project follow‑up skills.
Capable of providing guidance to others and supporting cross‑functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead EHS initiatives and drive measurable improvement.
Comfortable working independently but collaborates effectively with team members and leadership.
Qualifications (Required)
Education: Bachelor's
Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001/45001, and other relevant regulations.
Experience with the implementation of ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 standards.
