Overview
The Department of Social Work and Anthropology at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for a 9-month tenured Associate Professor of Social Work to begin August 2026. We are expanding our BSW Program to include online and evening options, therefore, candidates must be willing to teach primarily online and in-person evening courses. This position is not remote and faculty are expected to have a campus presence. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and research as evidenced by a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, strengths in undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to service. They must also have a demonstrated commitment to social justice, online teaching, and promoting student-faculty research. Duties include teaching core and elective undergraduate Social Work courses (primarily online and evenings), maintaining a productive research agenda that includes publishing and presenting in professional venues, professional advising online and on-campus students, assisting with maintaining the program’s accreditation, and adding to the service mission of the university. Qualifications
A DSW or PhD in Social Work and an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with at least two years of post-MS-W
practice is required. However, candidates with an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with two years of full-time post-MS-W experience and a PhD in a related field may be considered. ABD candidates are eligible, but all degree requirements must be completed by August 15, 2026. Other qualifications include: Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with faculty and administration across the university A record of professional activities related to social work practice and education Online teaching experience preferred Preferred qualifications
