Position Summary PDF has an immediate need for a solid Senior Mechanical Engineer with production tooling and low‑volume, high‑complexity design experience. The Senior Mechanical Engineer would work on PDF’s ebeam inspection tool for Design‑For‑Inspection used for enhancing yield in state‑of‑the‑art 300mm semiconductor fabs. We are searching for someone who wants to hone their skills in an exciting career where they can work on cutting edge electron beam technology and work side by side with industry experts with decades of experience. The ideal candidate will be organized and a highly motivated team player with strong initiative and communication skills and possesses the drive to deliver quality results on time in a dynamic, multi‑discipline, intensive and highly productive small team environment.

Responsibilities

Design electro‑mechanical modules from concept to production, including robotics, actuators, mechanisms, machined parts, sheet metal, etc.

Support continuous improvement and development of the electron eBeam column

Conduct system and module analysis, such as thermal, vibration, tolerance stackup and contamination

Support PDF’s eBeam Design‑For‑Inspection system through solving complex customer issues, manufacturing issues and vendor/supplier issues

Work with procurement team and manufacturing engineers to address build challenges which include End Of Life replacements and Engineering Change Orders

Design mechanical modules from concept to production which include customer specific requests and tool improvements

Interface with other mechanical, system, and electrical engineers to ensure proper mechanical module integration

Ability and Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time

Broad Hands‑on experience troubleshooting system level issues which are not limited to just mechanical issues but can include software, electrical, electro‑mechanical, noise and vibration, particle contamination and other high level system related problems

Design and analysis of system structural components

Create documentation including drawings, BOMs and procedures

Manage suppliers to ensure design requirements and project schedules are met

Lead complex engineering projects

Drive continuous engineering project and process improvements

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

Solid analytical and engineering skills

7+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, preferable in semiconductor

Proficiency with solid modeling, preferably SolidWorks

Experience with FEA, and thermal, vibration, and acoustic analysis and measurement

Experience with supplier management

Ability to work effectively and partner with various team members

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under time constraints and deadlines

Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and influencing skills

Ability to respond to, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest of standards for completeness and accuracy.

Ability to effectively operate in a fast‑paced team environment with ability to adapt to change

Experience working in Cleanrooms or production fabs where particle and chemical contamination is critical

Following Requirements are Highly Preferred

Vacuum tool, vacuum systems and pumps, electron beam columns, wafer handling robots, particle (PWP) contamination and/or motion control

Experience designing and troubleshooting modules and components for ultra‑low outgassing and “0” particle contamination

Experience working on and designing electron beam column optics and components

Experience with electrostatic chucks, piezo motors, linear motors, and servo control a plus

Experience designing high voltage components operating greater than -15kV DC

Pay Range USD $140,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.
