Grandview, MO
This is a civilian position used to collect, categorize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data pertaining to past and current criminal activity. This position will also analyze data describing crime patterns, crime trends, and potential suspects. The incumbent will assist with administering database and tracking systems; assist in the monitoring and researching all active parolees and known felons within the City; assist with creating local, state, and federal statistics for City-wide and in-house reporting requirements; and ensures work quality and adherence to established policies.
Job Responsibilities
Analyzes, interprets and makes deductions from various data sources to identify current and future crime patterns or trends
Examines and provides recommendations regarding all reported crimes for commonalities for investigative or proactive policing purposes
Gathers local crime reports from all sources, including other agencies and analyzes data; learns, identifies and applies modern practices based on current trends in the crime analysis profession
Provides accurate, timely and relevant analysis of crime patterns and trends, both inside and outside the jurisdiction, that aid in the efficient deployment of Department, City and partnering agency resources
Increases apprehensions and the clearance of criminal cases
Utilizes technology to distribute press releases, crime data, bulletins and maps internally and across the Internet
Functions as liaison with other police agencies to exchange and update information on criminal activity and prevention
Attends area-wide meetings with representatives of Grandview and other agencies to share information about crimes
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
Briefs officers in roll call of any pertinent trends
May perform relief duties for other department personnel as qualified
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related field and three years’ experience in crime analysis work or related statistical social services research, or any combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid drivers’ license.
Preferred:
Municipal police operation experience. Knowledge of modern police practices and methods.
Physical Demands Mobility to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment and attend off‑site meetings. On an intermittent basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time; intermittently walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach while performing office duties. Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment and supplies. Vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds such as files, manuals, or equipment.
Pay $48,609.60 - $65,624 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Grandview has an excellent benefits package including L6 LAGERS pension plan, Aetna Health plan, Dental and Vision plans. Employees enjoy 10 paid Holidays as well as 2 Floating Holidays every year!
