Sr. SOC Emulation Engineer, Silicon and Systems Group
The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced ground-breaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo, and the Astro personal robot. What will you help us create? As an Emulation Engineer, you will be part of an advanced architecture team that is exploring new hardware designs to improve our devices. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the emulation bring up environment for ASIC and system level emulation. You will participate in the design, verification and bring-up of IPs in Emulation by writing relevant scripts, debugging code, test benches, test harnesses, and otherwise interacting with the extended team. You will responsible for the bring-up of these blocks. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups including Product Design, Audio Technology, Computer Vision, Hardware Engineering, and Software Engineering, to build and validate emulation solutions that enable development of world-class hardware devices. Key job responsibilities
Build and bring-up emulation models for complex SOC designs Develop and maintain emulation environments and methodologies Debug complex hardware issues using emulation platforms Develop and maintain C++ based emulation testbench framework Create and execute verification test plans Interface with cross-functional teams including RTL, verification and silicon validation engineers to validate designs on emulation platforms Enable and partner with software team on software bring-up and root-cause bugs Optimize emulation performance and resource utilization Document processes, methodologies, and technical specifications Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 10+ years of experience in SOC emulation and validation Strong expertise with industry-standard emulation platforms (e.g., Synopsys Zebu, Cadence Palladium, Mentor Veloce) Demonstrated experience in: Emulation bring-up and debug Emulation environment setup and maintenance Performance optimization Proficiency in Hardware Description Languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL) Experience with programming languages (C/C++) and scripting skills in Python, Tcl, and/or Perl Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of ARM-based SOC architectures Experience debugging system-level issues Working experience with high performance industry standard buses like AMBA AXI4 Experience with transaction level modeling Experience with industry standard I/O interfaces Experience with Embedded firmware/software Experience with CI/CD pipelines for hardware verification Experience with UVM verification methodology Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
