STANDARD FORMAT FOR ALL JOB POSTINGS

We are seeking a GIS I/II level person to supplement our staff during a very heavy project-laden summer. Attached is the job description, which is extensive but we will highlight the ability to work with CADD drawings/experience interpreting technical engineering plans and property maps, including AutoCAD drawings are key skillsets we are looking for.

The initial period of work will be 4-6 months with possible extension. We'd prefer to have a local person but that won't be a firm requirement.

Position Summary The GIS Analyst I/II supports the agency's geographic information systems by creating and maintaining spatial data, assisting users, and producing maps and applications that support operations across the bay, maritime services, public parks, and law enforcement. This is a generalist role ideal for someone with foundational GIS skills and a desire to grow in a public service environment.

Key Responsibilities Provide daily support for Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, including troubleshooting and assisting end users. Maintain and update spatial and tabular data within enterprise geodatabases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agency standards. Converting CADD drawings to GIS features Document and manage metadata to support data transparency and long-term usability. Maintain and update GIS datasets related to:

Waterways, terminals, and maritime infrastructure Port property and adjacent city areas Park boundaries, amenities, utilities and maintenance zones Police beats, incident locations, and patrol zones

Design, update, and publish maps, layers, and web applications using ArcGIS tools. Support field operations, planning, and public safety teams with GIS data, tools, and analysis. Assist with GPS data collection and integrate field data into the GIS system. Respond to internal requests for spatial analysis, data exports, and custom map products. Perform basic spatial analysis and data queries to support operational and planning needs. Produce high-quality maps and visualizations for reports, presentations, and field use. Collaborate with other departments to gather requirements and deliver GIS solutions. Minimum Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a closely related field. 2-5 years of hands-on experience with Esri ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise Portal. Solid understanding of GIS principles, spatial data structures, and geospatial workflows. Working knowledge of cartographic design, including map layout, symbology, and labeling best practices. Familiarity with core GIS concepts such as coordinate systems, projections, geodatabases, and spatial joins. Experience with GPS data collection and integration into GIS platforms. Experience interpreting technical engineering plans and property maps, including AutoCAD drawings Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications

Experience converting complex engineering plans or land survey AutoCAD drawings to GIS features Experience with Esri mobile and web applications such as ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and ArcGIS Experience Builder. Familiarity with automating GIS workflows using Python scripting or ModelBuilder. Working knowledge of SQL for querying and managing spatial databases. Prior experience in a public agency or working with government datasets and workflows. Understanding of public safety GIS applications, including crime mapping and CAD system integration. Experience working with environmental or maritime datasets, such as shoreline features, tide zones, or coastal infrastructure. Proficiency in GPS data collection methods and integration into GIS platforms. Experience operating in a multi-user or enterprise GIS environment, including versioned editing and data management. Soft Skills
