phlebotomist
to support our client’s medical facility based in
St, Johnson City, New York, 13790.
This is a 13 Week assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: phlebotomist Location: St, Johnson City, New York, 13790 Pay Range: $26.00/hr to $30.00/hr Shift: Thursday–Sunday, 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM (4x10; 40 hrs/week) Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract) with possible extension
Key Responsibilities:
Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection: Venous and capillary venipuncture 24-hour and random urine collections H. pylori breath tests Glucose tolerance testing Ensure correct patient identification before collection Choose appropriate venipuncture equipment based on patient age Assess and select venipuncture site with respect to vein access Perform data entry for test orders in EHR (Electronic Health Records) Ensure diagnosis codes meet
Medical Necessity
guidelines Obtain necessary forms and prior authorizations (e.g., consent, ABNs) Prioritize STAT and timed draws per protocol Act as outpatient receptionist when needed: Greet patients Follow fasting-patient priority Handle phones and lab inquiries Ensure complete test orders and requisitions Monitor patients during procedures for adverse reactions and alert appropriate staff Perform downtime procedures when HIS or LIS systems are offline Assist with system recovery post-downtime
Required Experience & Skills:
Hospital phlebotomy experience required Must live within
50 miles
from facility
Preferred Skills & Experience:
3+ months of phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting Experience with: Patient registration Lab test order entry Lab specimen processing
Education Requirements:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Completed Phlebotomy Training Program OR other MOA (Medical Office Assistant) training
