Job Summary The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking a Transplant Pulmonologist to serve as the Medical Director of a long‑standing and expanding lung transplant program. This opportunity allows you to join a world‑class transplant program that has performed more than 500 life‑saving lung transplants, practice at a nationally ranked academic medical center, and enjoy the resources and reputation of the University of Kentucky, named a Best College by U.S. News – UK HealthCare has been the No. 1 hospital in Kentucky for eight consecutive years.
Ideal candidates will be an M.D./D.O. or equivalent, eligible for a Kentucky Medical License, have completed an accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship, and be board‑certified in both Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine. Fellowship in lung transplantation, 3-5 years of experience in the care of lung transplant patients, and eligibility for primary physician certification with the OPTN are required.
Candidates will be expected to play a leadership role in the growth and development of the lung transplant program, participate in the care of inpatients in the UK Lung Transplant program, evaluate patients for lung transplant listing both inpatient and outpatient, and provide outpatient post‑transplant care. They will also have the opportunity and will be encouraged to be involved in the teaching of University of Kentucky medical students, residents, and fellows. There are also opportunities to participate in patient‑oriented research in the areas of advanced lung diseases and lung transplantation. Salaries and academic rank are commensurate with experience.
