As our Senior Tooling Designer, you will partner closely with foundry tooling engineers and pattern makers to translate casting requirements into robust tooling solutions: Tooling Design & Layout:
Develop multi-cavity mold and core box configurations using 3D CAD (PowerShape, Inventor, Creo, NX, etc.), applying shrink, draft, radii, and fillet modifications for manufacturability. CAD Modeling & Surfacing:
Create accurate 3D models from 2D layouts, perform complex surfacing tasks, and calculate pattern offsets to ensure dimensional precision. CAM Support:
Provide CNC toolpath-ready models and detailed geometry information to CAM programmers for efficient machining of patterns and cores. Documentation & Drawings:
Produce comprehensive build, assembly, and material-takeoff drawings for the pattern shop; respond to design inquiries and coordinate material orders. Process Improvements:
Recommend new tooling technologies and rework strategies; lead training sessions for pattern personnel to elevate shop capabilities. What You Bring
CAD Mastery:
Minimum 5 years of 3D CAD experience with surfacing, non-uniform shrink/draft application, and conversion of 2D layouts into precise 3D models. Tooling Expertise:
At least 5 years designing molds, cores, and patterns with a deep understanding of pattern offsets and stock-material calculations. Proven Track Record:
Solid work history demonstrating reliability, attention to detail, and continuous design innovation. Local Commitment:
Live within 45 minutes of our Central Wisconsin facility to ensure dependable onsite presence.
