Job Description Are you an AI-focused data scientist eager to think fast, dive deep, and build? We are seeking a data scientist to join our Amazon Nova Solutions team to work with Foundation Model (FM) teams alongside internal and external Generative AI customers to customize foundation models and develop future applications. In this role, you will be the voice of the builder, working with Amazon businesses to develop GenAI solutions that deliver immediate business value and shape the future of customer experience. You will help customers understand best practices and develop new patterns as you explore new problem spaces. Your focus will be on providing insights to product, science, and engineering teams on how customers utilize our FMs and how we can improve. You must have deep technical experience with large language models, including architectures, evaluation, and fine-tuning techniques. Proficiency with design, deployment, and evaluation of foundation models—such as dataset design, metric development, and failure analysis—is essential. Hands-on experience with AI frameworks (e.g., Strands, LangGraph, CrewAI, DSPy) and model customization tools (PyTorch, TensorBoard, MLFlow/W&B, Bedrock, SageMaker) is preferred. This position requires excellent communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly. You will measure business impact through metrics and customer feedback, working efficiently and iteratively. Key Responsibilities Implement, deploy, and build prototypes for state-of-the-art GenAI solutions, working closely with customers. Share best practices and evangelize AWS GenAI services via blogs, whitepapers, and public events. Design, build, and migrate applications using Amazon Nova FMs, AWS Bedrock, and other GenAI tools. Understand customer business problems and help implement durable GenAI systems. Educate customers on the value of Amazon Nova FM ecosystem and demonstrate possibilities. Drive evaluation strategies, metric design, and data collection for real-world use cases. Lead architectural discussions to create solutions with Amazon Nova FMs. Contribute to AWS publications, workshops, demos, and proof-of-concept projects. Build relationships with customer engineering, product, and science leaders. About The Team The Amazon Nova Applied AI Solutions Team bridges Foundation Model science, engineering, and product teams with internal Amazon teams. We assist customers in building Generative AI applications and leverage these engagements to improve Foundation Models continually. Qualifications Basic: Master's degree in a quantitative field (statistics, math, data science, engineering, CS). 5+ years of experience in architecture, deployment, and operations of Generative AI/ML platforms. 3+ years working with large language models, including evaluation and architecture. Experience in designing and implementing AI/Deep Learning solutions. Preferred: Experience with model optimization techniques (compression, distillation, pruning, quantization, Transformers, etc.). Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, prompt engineering. Experience with AWS services (SageMaker, Step Functions, S3, etc.) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
