Peraton
Peraton is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program providing Tier 3 support to the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. The Tier 3 team maintains the HART infrastructure by installing and configuring system software and hardware, monitoring system performance, resolving customer tickets within JIRA and supporting system incident troubleshooting calls. Tier 3 members closely interact with the government customer to achieve system objectives, provide ticket updates, and system status updates. Tier 3 members are expected to be on-call for a week at a time approximately 4–6 times a year. This role is entirely telework based with core hours between 9 am–3 pm (EST) Monday–Friday; applicant must reside and perform all work within the United States.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of Information Technology experience
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government agency–level clearance (DHS EOD required prior to starting)
Experience in Cloud Systems Administration
Strong proficiency with Linux
Knowledge of:
Container platforms: OpenShift
Monitoring and observability tools: Dynatrace, Splunk
Automation platforms: Ansible Automation Platform
CI/CD tools: Jenkins, JFrog, or similar toolsets
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Related STEM field.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining CyberArk Privileged Access Manager
AWS certifications a PLUS
Expert knowledge of RHEL, Windows, & other open‑source technologies.
Experience designing, deploying, and managing solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda
Experience with AWS CLI, SDKs, and management tools
Familiarity with AWS security best practices

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
Help develop, document, communicate, and enforce a network technology policy.
Be responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including the server network, devices, and firewalls.
Be responsible for monitoring system performance, IT system operations and storage utilization.
Plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
Manage user accounts and assets and assign and update security permissions on the network according to security policy.
Provide support with escalated help desk requests.
Have experience with RHEL, Windows & other open‑source technologies.
Perform typical system administrative activities.
Review systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
Identify root cause and documenting troubleshooting steps to resolution.
Support active directory/LDAP, certificate services, network communications, and group policy and security compliance.
Provide Tier III support (problem/incident management).
Work independently and in team settings to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
