Job Description The individual will work as a Associate Scientist within the Translational Research Laboratory. Responsible for carrying out independent as well as collaborative research experiments using cell biolological, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques.
Responsibilities/Duties
Assisting with maintaining mammalian cell culture systems for assay development, testing for cell viability and proliferation, performing cellular and molecular biology techniques as needed (PCR, ELISA, Western Blotting etc.)
Performing cell-based or biochemical assays to screen potential ingredients
Performing genomic & proteomic isolation and downstream assaying
Supporting with other functions of TRL and collaboration within the Innovation team
Assisting with experimental design and conducting experiments on a timely basis
Review relevant scientific literature, conduct literature searches as a background for designing experiments
Sample processing, data analysis, recording data in a laboratory notebook, writing abstracts and reports for data presentation
Performing laboratory duties as assigned but not limited to organize, document, and maintain equipment, freezers, refrigerators, and cell line storage
Compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records, both paper and electronic is needed
Work closely with other team members to establish a collaborative and efficient working environment
Help maintain laboratory supplies, prepare buffers and reagents
Draft and review SOP’s and lab safety records/checks as needed
Qualifications The ideal candidate will be able to help design, execute and analyze experiments independently. This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. At least one year of demonstrated experience in a research laboratory applying cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunological techniques is preferred (not including coursework). Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and statistical analysis software is required assays.
Education and Experience Bachelor of Science (cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or related life sciences) or Master of Science (preferred) in above or related disciplines
