We are currently seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for our client in the Engineering Solutions domain. This is a permanent, full-time position with immediate start. Location: Addison, TX. Senior Controls Engineer Primary Skills
Engineering Role Description
The Senior Controls Engineer must have 10+ years of experience. For this role, you must be a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join the team. This role requires expertise in implementing automation solutions using PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS / Delta V platforms. As a key member of the team, you will work directly with customers, lead engineers, and ensure the successful design, implementation, and commissioning of automation systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to foster customer relationships and secure repeat business. Major Responsibilities
Automation System Design & Implementation: Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative automation solutions. This includes developing control system architecture, selecting components, detailing schematic diagrams, programming controllers (PLC, DCS / Delta V), and programming HMI / SCADA systems. Programming & System Development: Implement control systems using programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and other relevant languages. Knowledge of VBA, .NET, SQL, and Python for HMI / SCADA system development is preferred. Networking & Protocols: Design and implement industrial networking systems to connect control components and instrumentation using protocols such as Ethernet / IP, ProfNet, and Modbus. Project Management: Manage large-scale projects (up to $10M), including developing execution plans, budgets, work breakdown structures, scheduling, time tracking, financial tracking, and reporting. Identify and resolve project issues, manage conflicts, and ensure overall project profitability. Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a technical lead, guiding engineers and technicians, and providing mentorship to junior staff. You may also act as a Project Manager for smaller projects. Customer Interaction & Business Development: Work closely with customers to identify requirements, develop specifications, and deliver solutions. Secure repeat business by maintaining strong customer relationships. Minimum Requirements
Education Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical / Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Experience Over 8 years of experience with automation systems and platforms, including: In-depth knowledge of Emerson DeltaV platform Experience with PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions Expertise in PLC hardware / software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon Strong understanding of HMI / SCADA platforms (e.g., Rockwell FactoryTalk, Aveva System Platform, Ignition, Siemens WinCC) In-depth knowledge of DCS systems, particularly Emerson DeltaV Project management experience; PMP certification is a plus Familiarity with Batch / Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems Experience with electrical schematics, power distribution, control panels (up to 480VAC), and NEC standards Experience with AutoCAD is preferred Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers / technicians Professional references from a subordinate, peer, and manager Ability to travel up to 25% Preferred Experience
Experience in industries such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food & Beverage, Water Treatment, and general manufacturing. Physical Demands
Ability to see, perceive colors, hear, speak clearly, and have manual dexterity. Ability to drive, lift objects, mount / dismount equipment, and perform pushing / pulling tasks as needed. Working Environment
Standard office environment with occasional travel to on-site locations and diverse industrial environments. Frequent use of computers, phones, and office equipment. Education
