Assistant Professor
MIT Department of Chemical Engineering invites candidates for a tenure-track faculty position starting 07/01/2026. Appointment will be at the assistant professor level, with possible special cases for associate or senior faculty roles commensurate with experience. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field by the start of employment.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, conducting original scholarly research, developing course materials at both levels, and service to MIT and the profession.
Research interests encompass chemical and electrochemical catalysis, reaction engineering, computational and molecular modeling, biomanufacturing, bioprocess engineering, applied synthetic biology, process systems engineering, energy systems, biomedical engineering, advanced technologies, sustainability, and materials design.
The successful candidate will receive a generous start‑up package, access to state‑of‑the‑art core facilities across the MIT campus, and discretionary funds for professional expenditures.
Pay range for a 9‑month academic appointment at the entry‑level Assistant Professor rank (excluding summer salary): $140,000 – $150,000.
