POSITION SUMMARY
The position will be responsible for supporting the Family & Overnight programs at the Des Moines YMCA Camp and assisting Senior Program Directors. Responsibilities include, but not limited to program development and maintenance, marketing, community relations, financial management, assisting with hiring, training and supervision of staff. This position will participate in volunteer and staff development, collaborations with community agencies and facility management. This position will also support marketing & recruitment initiatives, manages logistics and staff to support Senior Program Director departments, assists in Annual Campaign fundraising efforts, along with managing online and digital platforms for camp public relations and ensures program quality to all participants and guests.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
One to two years of experience in related program development and program management.
Minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role.
Demonstrated computer skills in a Google Workspace or Microsoft Office environment.
American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED/First Aid Certifications or equivalent certifications approved by the YMCA – prior to first day and maintained afterwards.
Current CDL License & passenger endorsement for assigned vehicle - within the first 12 months of hire
Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift up to twenty pounds of weight, climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. Vision abilities required by this job includes close and distance vision and may at times require peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in an office and/or outdoor environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a non-traditional work week which may require evening, weekend and additional hours to accommodate management of program activities and representation of the organization at events.
