About the Role: As a Technical Writer for a DoD program, you will be a critical player in ensuring the warfighter is receiving the information needed in a concise and clear format that will ensure continued operations to keep DoD systems running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Maintain the project documentation repository on the RDTE network GIT/Bitbucket server (per CM procedures). Apply proper version control, labeling, and change-request documentation, tag releases in accordance with CM lead guidance.

Ensure that documentation meets the IPT’s QA criteria (peer-review completeness, traceability, formatting standards). Log and track editorial findings in the QA tracking system; confirm closure of comments before final sign-off.

Produce concise technical briefings and status slides for internal and external stakeholders. Support the IPT Lead in preparing briefings for various senior-level sessions.

Develop and update training curricula, quick-reference guides, and SOPs for DoD operators and maintainers.

Apply DoD labeling, handling, and encryption requirements to all outgoing documents. Work with the Cyber team to verify that published artifacts are free of inadvertent classified or sensitive content.

Interface daily with the IPT Lead, Operations, Logistics, and Engineering teams. Participate in IPT meetings, configuration-control board (CCB) sessions, and quality-review gatherings.

Recommend and implement documentation-process improvements (templates, style guides, automated formatting scripts). Track emerging documentation tools and best practices relevant to defense acquisition.
