Bank Controller - Duties / Responsibilities
The Bank Controller will oversee the overall accounting functions typical of a small community bank, including control systems, transaction-processing operations, and accounting policies and procedures.
As a member of the Asset Liability Committee and the Operations, Compliance, and IT Committee, the Controller will interact across the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including corporate annual reports, Call Reports, budget variance reports, and ALCO Committee Reports.
Maintaining the GL chart of accounts, reviewing income and expense general ledger entries for appropriateness, and ensuring all monthly entries are completed prior to month-end close.
Maintaining internal controls over accounting transactions.
Managing Payroll and Insurance programs for employees, maintaining the ADP system, and handling monthly salary and PTO accruals.
Collaborating with the executive team in preparing the annual budget and audits, and assisting in gathering information for external and internal audits and bank examinations.
Monitoring liquidity, daily cash management, liquidity forecasting, and preparing reports for ALCO meetings to ensure sufficient liquidity and lines of credit.
Overseeing Asset Liability Management, including investment securities entries, deposit trends, and capital accounts, utilizing the Vantage ALM system.
Performing daily and monthly reconciliations of General Ledger accounts, internal bank checking accounts, and balance sheet accounts; managing fixed assets depreciation, prepaid and accrued expenses, and maintaining the fixed assets accounting system.
Following up on outstanding suspense items older than 90 days with proper documentation and filing.
Handling Accounts Payable, USE taxes, IRS reporting, and vendor management.
