Overview
Drodex is seeking Senior Scientific Program Advisors
to provide Scientific & Programmatic Assistance Services in support of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). These roles are part of BARDA's Critical Operations, Research & Expertise (CORE) program, supporting the advanced research and development (R&D/AR&D) of medical countermeasures (MCMs) addressing chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats, pandemic influenza, and emerging infectious diseases. You will work at the intersection of science, public health, and program management—helping BARDA deliver life-saving technologies that strengthen the nation\'s preparedness and response capabilities. Hybrid (Washington, DC metro area preferred; remote flexibility available) Responsibilities
Provide subject-matter expertise and advisory support on BARDA\'s MCM programs related to public health emergency preparedness and response. Lead or support technical and programmatic efforts across BARDA divisions, ensuring coordination and alignment with mission priorities. Conduct advanced statistical and analytical services, including:
Data cleaning, validation, integration, and quality control Statistical simulation, modeling, and visualization Preparation of analytical and reporting packages
Draft, review, and edit technical documents such as:
Statements of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Serve as a
Scientific or Technical Advisor
on Technical Evaluation Panels (TEPs) and Program Coordination Teams (PCTs). Provide recommendations on program planning, portfolio oversight, and total life-cycle cost (TLCC) management. Analyze protocols, study reports, regulatory documents, and market research abstracts to support program decisions. Participate in strategic discussions and interagency collaborations to identify new program areas aligned with BARDA\'s mission. Offer expert guidance on issues spanning preclinical, clinical, manufacturing, and analytical development. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, computer science, statistics, pharmacy, or related discipline). Graduate or doctoral degree preferred. Experience / Skills: Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience
supporting
Advanced Research and Development (ARD)
and/or
Medical Countermeasure (MCM)
programs. Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:
Preclinical or clinical development (animal models, pharmacology, toxicology, or clinical operations) Analytical testing, regulatory affairs, or manufacturing (CMC, process scale-up, or sterile manufacturing) Epidemiological or biostatistical analysis (SAS, R, or equivalent) Quality assurance/control in biopharmaceutical or medical device environments
Proven ability to lead or advise on multidisciplinary technical projects. Knowledge of FDA/ICH guidelines, CDISC data standards, and public-health preparedness frameworks preferred. Strong communication, presentation, and scientific writing skills. Clearance: Public Trust Eligible Desired Qualifications: Master\'s or PhD in life sciences, public health, or related field. Prior experience with BARDA, NIH, CDC, DoD, or other federal public-health agencies. Familiarity with Project BioShield, PAHPA, or pandemic-response programs. Ability to operate effectively in high-tempo, cross-functional environments.
