Overview

Migrant Education Program Recruiter • Wayne County Public Schools

Responsibilities

  • Understand all federal regulations pertaining to the Migrant Education Program
  • Attend all trainings for recruiters and data entry clerks
  • Identify and recruit migrant students using various methods, including occupational surveys, MSIX, canvassing targeted areas, contacting local farms and businesses, and DPI reporting
  • Collaborate with school staff to maintain appropriate records of migrant students
  • Serve as a liaison between home and school; maintain positive communication with migrant families
  • Provide supportive services to migrant youth and families as necessary to enable migrant youth to receive a sound education
  • Maintain records and transmit all pertinent information to NCDPI in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Two Year Degree or 48 semester hours of college level work (preferred)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Valid NC Driver License and reliable transportation
  • Thorough knowledge of the geographic area
  • Willingness to work irregular hours

  • Write using prescribed formats with proper punctuation and grammar

  • Communicate effectively in various settings via telephone and email

  • Work in indoor environments; the work environment is usually minimal in noise; locations include the Central Office, schools, and community

Director of Federal Programs and Director of Title III, World Languages, and Policy

Terms of Employment

Performance evaluated in accordance with Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
