Position: Accounting Analyst

Location: Farmington Hills, MI

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced Accounting Analyst who thrives in a well-organized, fast-paced, and multi-task driven environment. This position will report directly to the Controller at our Farmington Hills location.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze financial data and activity, including analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Prepare various financial, regulatory, and special reports as requested by management, including monthly comparative financial data and certain quarterly Call Report schedules.
• Balance and reconcile general ledger accounts assigned, with attention to accuracy and reasonableness; prepare and post accounting entries; identify, research, track and resolve open items, variances and discrepancies.
• Assist with efforts to identify and implement process and reporting improvements, including developing and updating complex spreadsheets and documenting procedures for various accounting processes.
• Prepare analyses for Senior Management as requested and assist with other accounting-related projects and duties.
• Assist with updating and maintaining the Current and Expected Credit Loss model.
• Ensure Accounting documents, financial reports, tax documents, and related reports are timely and accurately completed and/or filed.

Requirements

A successful candidate will be an approachable team player with a personable and professional demeanor, a desire to learn and driven to achieve outstanding results. We seek a candidate with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and a minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably within a credit union or other financial institution.

Technical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel skills, and an understanding of related regulations, statutes, and filing requirements preferred.
