Overview
Attorney Recruiting and Development Professional (Houston preferred) – O’Melveny & Myers LLP. This role is part of the Texas recruiting and development team and will collaborate with the Dallas recruiting professional to manage all associate attorney recruiting and development efforts for the Houston, Austin, and Dallas offices. Location: Houston preferred.
It is an opportunity to contribute to a global law firm with a local feel, focusing on talent development and attorney recruitment across multiple offices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the law school student recruiting process for the Houston and Austin offices, including developing strategic outreach and communications with targeted law schools in the Texas market and in coordination with our Dallas recruiting lead.
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of the summer associate program and events for the Houston and Austin offices, including the organization of on-campus and in-office interviews.
- Work closely with the Director of Attorney Recruiting and Hiring Partners to manage the recruitment of lateral attorneys to meet the Firm’s strategic objectives and practice needs.
- Conduct onboarding, new attorney orientation, and exit procedures and interviews for attorneys.
- Understand and manage the annual attorney recruiting and development budget for the Houston and Austin offices.
- Collaborate with the Dallas office recruiting professional and Dallas attorneys on internal and external talent development initiatives, recruiting efforts and summer program execution.
- Build awareness, understanding, and support for the Firm’s talent development programs and initiatives.
- Working in conjunction with the firm’s Attorney Professional Development team, oversee and organize mentoring programs for associates and develop integration tools for lateral hires in Texas.
- Support the attorney development process, including overseeing the local associate and counsel evaluations, administering skills and development training programs.
- Support overall Talent Development Department needs, taking on additional opportunities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional recruiting or career development positions within a sophisticated law firm or professional services organization.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Experience with all aspects of the attorney recruitment process, including outreach efforts, recruiting, onboarding, and integration processes.
- Executive presence, tenacity, integrity, and professionalism that engender confidence with attorneys, administrative leadership, and prospective candidates.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a consensus-driven organization and to create consensus-based support.
- Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and accept a wide variety of assignments; ability to work closely with law students, associates, partners, colleagues and team members.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to retain, develop and motivate talent development professionals.
- Outstanding relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate with senior administrative managers, partners, and associates across the Firm.
