Position Summary

The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for tasks related to the production and testing of electronic devices, primarily utilizing additive manufacturing processes. These tasks span various areas, including manual dispensing and soldering, operating automated tools such as lasers, printers, assembly and encapsulation equipment, as well as conducting both automated and manual product testing. These activities will require interfacing with both Engineering and Manufacturing personnel as well as interactions with NextFlex partners, customers, and vendors. This position provides technical support for processing tools, troubleshooting equipment, calibration, preventive maintenance, and documentation.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Operation of automated equipment according to the documented procedures for tools and materials (training will be provided). This includes producing multiple devices with additively manufactured circuits and other components.
  • Routine operations level programming of equipment recipes.
  • Ensuring that equipment and materials such as adhesives and tooling are well cleaned and maintained as per instructions.
  • Observe and record performance of tool function and alert operations when processes or materials deviate from expected performance.
  • Participate in meetings and provide input on improvements to procedures, quality and materials.
  • Inspections and documentation of the parts’ status and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records in various electronic systems (e.g., Jira, relevant databases).
  • Always operate and behave in a safety‑conscious manner.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience in a technical field following and documenting procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience with precision instruments and process equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, e.g., open/short circuit, resistance.
  • Experience with technical data including the use of Microsoft Office products including Excel.
  • Communication skills in written and oral capacity to accurately report and describe activities and status.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Education in a technical field.
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing, e.g., print processes for printed electronics, flexible or conformal electronics is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position spends large amounts of time standing while operating equipment in a cleanroom, which requires wearing a hairnet, face mask, smock, gloves, and cleanroom shoes (all provided). Occasionally, long periods of time will be spent manipulating devices under a microscope.

On‑site office work is conducted using general office equipment, including substantial sitting and is performed primarily in a typical indoor office setting with cubicles, offices, and conference rooms. Low to moderate noise and interruptions typical of an office setting, such as peer conversations, computers, printers, and phones.

Work Authorization / Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be one of the following: a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
