We are currently seeking a Senior Civil CAD Designer to lead our CAD department and join our Site Development Team in Austin. The ideal candidate will have deep technical experience in Civil 3D, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for mentoring others while producing high-quality, efficient site development plans. This is a hands-on design leadership role responsible for managing CAD operations, enforcing standards, developing team members, and serving as the go-to authority for CAD production across the firm. Serve as the head of the CAD department , overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the consistent application of drafting standards and processes Produce detailed civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, utilities, drainage, and roadway plans Set up and manage sheet sets, drawing databases, and Civil 3D data shortcuts Draft engineering plans based on verbal instructions, redlines, and conceptual sketches Maintain and enforce CAD standards across all projects Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level CAD staff Lead CAD team reviews, QA/QC checks, and support professional development for the drafting team Support construction documentation, including preparing field-ready drawing sets Communicate and coordinate with engineers, project managers, and team members to ensure seamless integration of design workflows Minimum 8 years of experience in civil drafting/design for land development Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including pipe networks, surfaces, profiles, data shortcuts, and corridor modeling Prior experience leading or managing CAD production teams preferred Solid understanding of construction design methods Familiarity with XREFs and document management systems Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) Post-secondary education in Drafting Technology or Civil Engineering Technology preferred Hourly Range: $35.PTO and paid holidays ~ Flexible scheduling ~ Performance bonuses ~ Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance ~ Life Insurance and FSA options ~ Long-term and short-term disability coverage Submit your resume and a portfolio or example of relevant design work to careers@mahoneyengineering.Senior Civil CAD Designer – [Your Name] .
