Human Resources Generalist

Washington County, located in West Bend, has an excellent opportunity as a Human Resources Generalist. In this position you serve as a front-line HR professional with a focus on benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, employee training, and HR compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Benefit Administration: Administer benefit programs, work with vendors and systems for enrollment, terminations, claims resolution, change reporting, and reconcile monthly benefit invoices.
  • Recruitment: Oversee recruitment activity for various county departments, coordinate staffing requirements with department heads, and develop effective recruitment strategies; conduct new hire orientation.
  • Employee Relations: Provide timely guidance and feedback to leadership on all aspects of employee relations management, conduct internal investigations, and advise leadership on operational complaints.
  • Performance Management: Assist leaders with performance management, advise on employee corrective actions and terminations, and provide coaching to leadership.
  • Employee Training: Perform employee and management training on various HR topics, create training presentations, and address requested departmental training needs.
  • Compliance: Develop and maintain HR compliance records.
  • Administrative: Process benefit invoices for payment, answer general HR questions, update intranet, and coordinate various programs including blood drives.
  • Other Duties: Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems; perform other related duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR Generalist experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS software applications and federal and state labor and employment laws.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.

Pay based on experience.
