Job Title: CNC Programmer
The
Analytical Solutions Division (ASD)
of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a full-time
CNC Programmer
on-site at our west Huntsville, AL location. The
CNC Programmer
provides comprehensive on-site knowledge of CNC (computer numerical controlled) machinery for fabrication. The role involves reading and interpreting technical blueprints, CAD design sketches, and engineering specifications to input design specifications, adjust machine cutting paths, and perform quality checks on final products. Candidates should have extensive manufacturing experience, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate works efficiently to ensure all products meet customer specifications.
Must Haves as a CNC Programmer:
Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
AAS in Machine Tool Technology with CNC programming
and
3+ years relevant CNC programming experience for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe/mill-turn work,
OR
6-8 years of recent and relevant CNC programming experience for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe/mill-turn work
Experience programming for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe/mill-turn, WJ/Laser (as needed), and future CNC equipment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
Identify tooling/fixturing requirements for manufacturing parts
Create and edit setup sheets and work instructions for CNC operators, ensuring process completeness and quality
Proficient with multi-axis CAM software, especially Mastercam mill/lathe/multi-axis
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and engagement in process improvements
Experience managing CNC program directories and digital tool libraries
Provide CNC programming training to operators and machinists
Proof out new programs to ensure safety, quality, and reliability
Physical ability to perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, grasping, bending, climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Wearing all required PPE, including safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection, and gloves
Additional Qualifications to Impress Us:
Experience with SolidWorks CAD software
Developing CNC programs based on SolidWorks models
Experience with DMG Mori Mill-turns and CELOS controllers
Experience with FANUC 5-axis CNC controllers
Machine Tool/CNC Programming Certification
