Rising Oaks is a transitional housing program providing housing and supportive services to 30 transition age youth (ages 18-25) who have aged out of foster care and/or juvenile probation systems. The program has a multidisciplinary team and offers services including individual and group therapy, case management, educational and vocational coaching, and peer mentorship.

Residential Counselor

What You Will Do Under supervision, provide high-quality, day-to-day care and supervision to participants at a residential or housing program to ensure their well-being and development. Maintain a safe, nurturing environment in accordance with program regulations, FF policies and procedures, and accreditation standards; perform related duties as assigned.

Shifts Available On-call employment. Hours/Days TBD.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):

Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a residential or housing program, including counseling and support services to clients and/or their families.

Techniques for supervising and providing high-quality care to support clients in expressing their needs and advocating for themselves in a community living setting.

Principles for planning and implementing age-appropriate recreational, skills-building, and community integration activities.

Short- and long-term therapeutic methods, including community-based interventions.

Theories, principles, and techniques of group and individual counseling to address cognitive, mental, and emotional issues in youth, children, and/or young adults.

Current trends and research in behavioral health disorders diagnosis and treatment.

Principles of risk assessment and crisis intervention.

Basic needs and challenges for individuals and families accessing behavioral health services, including cultural barriers.

Social, emotional, and behavioral aspects of mental disorders and illnesses.

Principles and practices of direct client service delivery.

Principles of behavioral health education.

Cultural, social, and environmental factors influencing behavioral health.

Development milestones of children, youth, or young adults.

Community and governmental services and resources.

Applicable laws, codes, and regulations, including HIPAA.

FF safety rules, regulations, and protocols.

Techniques for providing excellent customer service and effective communication with the public, community organizations, stakeholders, and staff.

The structure and rules of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition.

Modern communication tools and equipment, including computers and relevant software.

High School Diploma or GED.

At least one year of experience supporting services or working in a residential or housing program with a similar population.
