This job is responsible for leading and executing on internal control discipline and operational excellence within a Line of Business (LOB) or Enterprise Control Function (ECF). Key responsibilities include executing LOB or ECF processes and tools to drive adherence to enterprise-wide standards. Job expectations include supporting the implementation of quality assurance and quality control processes within the LOB or ECF through ongoing monitoring and testing of controls, identifying issues and control improvements for remediation, and building out actions plans and milestones. The Legal Business Control Manager will have a broad range of responsibilities to support the division leadership team. They will be expected to work closely with the Division COO and Business Controls Executive Designee to help lead major projects, program or processes with the Legal Department, including internal control discipline and operational excellence. This will include supporting Legal's SPI administrative team within Legal, drive Legal Department compliance and operational risk activities to ensure adherence to enterprise Policies and Standards, and will support projects related to external data transmission, privacy compliance adherence, model/AI program development, ADA compliance procedures, and more. The position requires the individual to build, collaborate and maintain relationships with and work closely with all enterprise Policy owners and support partners for the Legal Department and Global Public Policy. The role will report to Legal’s Business Controls Executive Designee under Legal’s COO. This role will be expected to collaborate with stakeholders in Legal, GCOR, Audit, GIS and Technology to enhance department efficiency, automate workflows, enhance quality assurance and controls, and improve user experience with legal tools and platforms. Responsibilities: Business Controls Work closely with Legal leadership to identify pain points and opportunities for digital transformation Leads assessments of the design and effectiveness of the risk and control environment supporting Legal and ensure adherence to enterprise-wide standards Performs monitoring and/or first line testing of controls, identifying issues and control improvements for remediation Leads the implementation of optimized controls and enhanced Quality Assurance (QA) practices Supports responses for regulatory exams, internal audits, and other monitoring and inspection reviews Ensures accuracy of data to support governance materials and reporting Project Management & Stakeholder Collaboration Serve as the primary liaison between the Legal team, Technology, and key vendors to ensure Legal technology solutions meet Legal needs Gather, document, and prioritize requirements from Legal team Implement project management routines, support change management identification and monitoring, and develop training to drive user adoption of Legal technology tools Technology & Process Improvement Key stakeholder to support evaluations, selection, and implementation of existing Enterprise technology platforms to be leveraged for use cases within Legal and Global Public Policy, in collaboration with Legal senior stakeholders and Technology partners Identify, develop and lead initiatives relating to opportunities to optimize workflows and expand automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual work in Legal processes Monitor legal tech industry trends and benchmark best practices for continuous improvement Identify compliance and operational risks present in the Legal Department and implement applicable controls to mitigate the risks Skills: Controls Management Oral Communications Risk Management Stakeholder Management Strategy Planning and Development Continuous Improvement Drives Engagement Influence Strategic Thinking Talent Development Data and Trend Analysis Decision Making Monitoring, Surveillance, and Testing Problem Solving Quality Assurance Required Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in banking control function, compliance, or legal department operational role Desired Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in banking control function, compliance, or legal department operational role Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience Shift: 1st shift (United States of America)
