The Home for Little Wanderers' Harrington House is looking for Residential Counselors to care for children in their Dorchester location. In the group home, children or adolescents, ranging in age from 8-13, are in transition back to their families or moving on to independent living, but need support to make a successful transition back to their communities.

Hours: Saturday - Tuesday, 2pm - 10pm

The program provides residential treatment in a safe, structured, home-like environment. Children participate fully in the community through school attendance and extracurricular activities. The programs also offer clinical services, health services, psychiatric services, educational assistance, milieu therapy, and case management services.

How You'll Be Making A Difference

Providing a safe, supportive environment for children or adolescents aged 8-15 in transition back to their families or moving toward independent living. Ensuring participation of children in community activities, including school and extracurriculars. Offering clinical, health, psychiatric, educational, milieu therapy, and case management services. Under the supervision of the Residential Supervisor, maintaining a safe environment for children. Communicating with other counselors from previous shifts to ensure continuity of care and documenting daily activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, with relevant parenting or childcare experience. Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements Continuous walking, standing, climbing, lifting objects for 6-7 hour shifts. Ability to effectively restrain using proper TCI techniques when needed.
