Performs responsible administrative and technical activities related to the support, deployment, configuration, and usage of municipal business application systems; responsible for professional analysis of system operations, report generation, and business process review.
Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the journey-level class in the Business Systems Analyst series, responsible for providing support, analysis, and recommendations for City business applications, system operations, and business processes. This class is distinguished from the Senior Business Systems Analyst/ Integration and Applications Administrator in that the latter are responsible for a higher degree of software analysis, operations and design expertise and specialized knowledge of business applications and business process improvement. Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receivesgeneralsupervision from the Integration and Applications Administrator or designee. May exercise lead responsibilities and/or project supervision. Assists department subject-matter experts in troubleshooting and resolving business application and database issues Assists with the development of backup procedures, maintenance, and support of existing software applications and systems; coordinates and communicates system upgrades and enhancements; performs installation, configuration, and testing of system replacements/upgrades and related data migration Works with Information Technology staff, department managers, division leads, and application users to define requirements and document, design, and/or redesign effective business processes, applications, systems, and application interfaces Conducts business analysis, evaluates business processes, and identifies system and process requirements Compiles and maintains an inventory of all applications software and system assets and corresponding contracts and agreements; documents system configurations, upgrades, and enhancements Maintains a secure information technology environment for software applications and systems Assists with research of application software products and services, and coordinates feasibility studies for applications, software, and system products under consideration; participates in the development of Requests for Proposal, Quote, or Information, and participates in selection of consultants and vendors Coordinates projects, develops implementation plans, reviews financial and equipment resources, prepares project and procedure documentation, and confers with vendors, departmental, and Information Technology staff Reviews, recommends, and implements standards, methodologies, and best practices for application implementation, business process improvement, and report creation Creates process and system models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to show analysis and provide direction;
