Position Overview The Office of Safety Education and Outreach (SEO) seeks a
Director of Budget, Grants and Personnel
to manage funding, budgeting, staffing, and related processes for citywide traffic safety education programs supporting the City's Vision Zero plan. The Director will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner and oversee the annual budget process, coordinate with various city agencies and grantors, supervise the SEO Fiscal Officer, and handle personnel matters within the unit.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and oversee detailed yearly budgets for multiple funding sources, monitor funding use, and manage budget modifications.
Supervise the Fiscal Officer, oversee procurement processes, and evaluate fiscal performance.
Manage grant activities, including proposal development, expenditure oversight, and reporting, particularly with NYS Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and other agencies.
Serve as NYC STOP-DWI Coordinator, developing action plans, managing agency funding, and ensuring compliance with state and city requirements.
Collaborate with city departments and external organizations on funding proposals and program initiatives.
Represent the agency at meetings, conferences, and in special assignments.
Handle personnel management tasks, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and staff support.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in relevant fields OR a Bachelor's degree with three years of related professional experience OR an associate degree with five years of experience OR a high school diploma with seven years of experience, all in relevant areas.
Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Skills Experience in City budgeting and grant-writing is preferred.
