Longline Assistant Engineer

Coastal Villages Longline, a subsidiary of Coastal Villages Region Fund, is seeking applications for an Assistant Engineer/Deckhand aboard Longline vessels in the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea, and Aleutian Islands. Responsibilities include maintaining vessel engines, power systems, deck machinery, hydraulic, electrical, piping, plumbing, and refrigeration systems, as well as performing deckhand duties. The role may involve shipyard work, loading/unloading supplies, cleaning, and other duties. Current USCG License with endorsements is preferred but not required. Specific Duties Include
Maintain vessel systems and safety. Inspect, repair, and modify gear as directed. Pass firefighting and safety courses. Operate hoisting equipment for gear movement. Maintain a safe, clean environment. Assist with offloads and loading supplies. Work safely on uneven, slippery, moving surfaces. Work 12-16 hour shifts in adverse weather. Perform other duties as assigned. Manning lifeboat stations during drills or emergencies. Report to the Chief Engineer. Starting wage: Crewshare or Daily; Status: Non-Exempt; Semi-Annual. Applicants must pass background, drug, and reference checks, and be willing to live and work in cramped, remote environments. Good communication, self-motivation, and teamwork are essential. Physical Demands
Work long, variable shifts, often 12-16 hours. Perform strenuous tasks in hazardous conditions. Grip and handle equipment for long periods. Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces. Lift and carry weights up to 100 pounds. Meet vision and medical clearance requirements. Requirements
USCG License preferred but not required. Basic math and English skills; able to perform under stressful, noisy, and adverse weather conditions. Applicants may need to undergo physical examinations to ensure safety in remote, hazardous locations. Additional Details
