This position is primarily responsible for conducting in-service jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels mainly in the greater Washington DC area. The Boiler Inspector (Jurisdictional Consultant) will learn and develop skills to manage, inspect, evaluate, and consult with clients, conducting inspections per ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, the Rules of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, The National Board Inspection Code, jurisdictional laws, FM programs, procedures, and instructions. The inspector will be supervised by the Operations Chief Inspector. Based on experience, candidates will be considered for Jurisdictional Consultant I or II. Minimum Requirements
Education: BS in Engineering, associate degree from a 2-year technical school, or high school diploma (or equivalent), depending on experience. Desired: National Board and state certifications, qualified to review repairs per NBIC and FMIC requirements. Required: Meet National Board In-Service commission qualification requirements (RCI-1 NB-263), pass the National Board Exam, meet state requirements, and acquire a National Board Commission within 12 months. Experience: Experience in boiler and pressure vessel construction, operation, inspection, mechanical and electrical equipment, management systems, and nondestructive testing methods. Skills: Technical knowledge in boiler and pressure vessel industry, good communication, time management, problem-solving, computer skills, ability to work independently and in a team.
