Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a
Principal/Sr Principal Engineer Software Quality.
This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The Principal/Sr Principal Engineer, Software Quality Assurance will be responsible for one or more software development teams (IPTs) on the GBSD or other SDS programs. Our focus is on ensuring process execution and efficiencies in the development, testing, and release of the software deliverables.
Roles And Responsibilities
Support individual scrum/sprint teams by attending meetings, creating Jira dashboard tools to help monitor progress and execution efficiency. Offer suggestions for improvement to the software leadership. Create process health, progress and stability metrics when required. Become fluent in the use of tools; Jira, Confluence, Jazz, DOORS or others as needed Be a constructive advocate for Mission Assurance and relentlessly articulate our Value Proposition to our stakeholders. Ensure GBSD software is in compliance with industry guidelines and contractual requirements for development of military weapon systems. Maintain a keen focus on employee engagement, teaming and collaboration, process improvement, rework reduction, and continuous improvement.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Job Qualifications
Principal Engineer SW Quality: 5 years of experience with a Bachelors in Science; or 3 years of experience with a Masters; or 0 years of experience with a PhD. 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required) will be considered Sr Principal Engineer SW Quality: 9 years of experience with a Bachelors in Science; or 7 years of experience with a Masters; or 4 years of experience with a PhD. 13 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required) will be considered Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need Experience in developing and implementing Software Quality Assurance plans. Experience in developing and using metrics for process health and/or performance monitoring Experience communicating between local personnel, suppliers, and/or customers Experience in evaluation, tracing, and/or analysis of requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Missile Systems/Sub-Systems design, construction, or sustainment Experience in process monitoring, data collection, analysis, and metric reporting for a large program/supplier-base. Experience in Peer Reviews and Code Reviews Experience in software build testing, qualification, and Integration and Test Demonstrated ability prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines Able to read and understand Software Code (C++, Java, Python) Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools (e.g., SAP, DOORs, Jira, Confluence) Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology A current/Active Secret clearance
Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00Salary Range 2: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
