Summary/objective The Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR) reports to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and plans, directs and reviews the activities and operations of the Human Resource function. This position is responsible for making independent decisions and administering employee relations functions across the organization to include discipline, termination process and performance management. The VPHR also serves as an HR Business Partner to select business units within the organization and leads and works collaboratively within the HRBP team, legal department, outside counsel, EEOC investigators, and other HR staff. Serves as a witness for the Company in any related litigation, as necessary. This position provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Chief People Officer (CPO).

Core Job Duties Develops, plans, and implements department goals and objectives in alignment with business strategic goals; recommends and administers policies and procedures. Ensures that consistent and fair human resources (HR) practices are followed in compliance with state and federal laws/regulations and isolved policy. Reviews, approves, and, if appropriate, administers corrective action for employees as dictated by federal/state/ law and policies and regulations, including but not limited to suspensions with pay, suspensions without pay, demotions and terminations. Manages and delivers HR services with strong emphasis on recruitment, on-boarding, employee relations, training, and leadership development. Leads team of Senior HRBPs, HRBPs, and HR support roles to ensure alignment with business and people strategy. Maintains partnership with HR Operations to support HR compliance and consistency in application of HR practices, policies, and procedures – including coordinating with HR Operations in assigning team involvement in audits, Affirmation Action activities, and EEO policy updates. Provides advice and coaching to senior leaders in the execution of their leadership role and people management approach. Support the identification of people priorities (with strong focus on identifying talent and defining organizational design) then partner with business leaders to implement strategy. Reviews relevant documentation for cases involving misconduct and poor performance of employees as needed. Prepares Summary Findings for dismissal meetings with the CPO. Manages multiple investigations while providing advice, support, and direction to leaders with respect to disciplinary and performance management issues. Interprets laws, personnel policies, and regulations, including but not limited to FLSA, Title VII, EEOC, ADA, age discrimination, equal pay, sexual harassment, and progressive discipline. Job Complexity Guides and inspires others to work with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Sets strategy and guides senior leaders in identifying and evaluating fundamental issues and direction for business unit(s). Requires in-depth knowledge of the business unit, business strategies, and the company's goals. Interaction Interacts internally and externally with executive and C-Level level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters. Influences policymaking.

Supervision Directs and controls the activities of one or more business unit, division, product groups or service areas through senior leaders who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas. Clear expertise as a leader and operator.

Experience Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of direct experience, with 10+ years of leadership experience. May require advanced degree.

Scope Sets direction, strategy, and vision for business unit(s). Holds senior leaders accountable for results. Helps shape, exemplify, and hold senior leaders accountable to the management standards of the company. Approves corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Inspires senior leaders to develop innovative concepts and promote new ideas. Drives meaningful impact and improvements across multiple functions or business units; strategically plans for how people and processes scale.

Discretion Erroneous decisions will have a significant long-term effect on the company's success.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience. 15+ years of related human resources experience. 10+ years prior experience managing and leading teams. Well-developed and demonstrable business acumen with ability to apply knowledge with confidence. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates and lead complex projects. Proven effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet competing deadlines in an organized manner. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Travel Required Yes, up to 15% domestic travel may be required.
