The

TRiO Educational Planner

works with students participating in the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program, federally funded programs designed to increase retention, graduation, and transfer rates of students who are low-income, first generation, and/or have a disability. The Educational Planner reports to the Director of TRiO and maintains collaborative relationships with other TRiO team members, staff, faculty, and college departments involved in the implementation of TRiO objectives. The Educational Planner is responsible for academic advising, connecting students to applicable on- and off-campus resources to meet their socio-emotional needs, and maintaining consistent communication with students to assess progress toward their academic, career, and personal goals. In collaboration with the TRiO team, the Educational Planner will work to advance the department's commitment to diversity and equity through development, implementation, and assessment of culturally responsive policies, practices, and programming to achieve equitable outcomes for historically under-represented students.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, learning English as a second language, and Continuing Education students. Position Responsibilities

Advising & Holistic Student Support:

Manage a caseload of 120-140 students Develop and maintain student-centered relationships with a diverse group of participants that encourages and facilitates program participation Identify and address barriers to student success and act as a liaison, advocate, and resource for program participants Facilitate early intervention strategies for student success, retention, and completion, including a personal plan of support services to meet the needs of each program participant Assist students in setting academic, transfer, personal, and professional goals; and develop SMART plans to achieve these goals Consult with Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and other student support services to resolve admission, registration, Financial Aid, and graduation issues Work closely with student support departments and faculty to maintain a holistic view of progress for each student on their caseload Maintain knowledge of Green River degree requirements and general transferability of degrees to local institutions Assist students in the completion of financial aid and scholarship applications and refer to alternative funding sources for Green River and intended transfer institutions Commitment to Equity and Inclusion:

Establish and maintain relationships with on-campus student support services and service providers in the community to make appropriate referrals for students Support effective academic skill building interventions which may include peer mentoring, tutoring, study tables, etc. Develop, implement, and coordinate group activities, workshops, and seminars to assist students in the development of academic skills and educational and career goals, and transfer to Bachelor's degree programs Co-design equity-centered learning experiences in collaboration with students, community partners, TRiO staff, and other campus departments Plan and implement TRiO sponsored trips to colleges, universities, and industry partners, as well as academic enrichment activities Serve on College committees to represent the interests of TRiO students, build and maintain professional relationships across campus, and market the TRiO program Participate in annual planning and ongoing monitoring and assessment of departmental goals, objectives, activities, and budget Perform other duties as assigned Grant Responsibilities:

Identify, recruit, and onboard TRiO eligible students Develop and conduct program orientations, workshops, seminars, and campus outreach activities according to the grant objectives Utilize student information management tools, including a TRiO specific student database, ctcLink, and Navigate360 to facilitate two-way student communications and appointment campaigns, address progress reports and alerts from campus partners, and to track reportable grant requirements, including student participation, contact and progress notes, degree completion and transfer, service provision and referrals, etc. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Ability to work effectively with students experiencing a high degree of personal and emotional stressors impacting their academics to assess, develop, and implement supports or make referrals to appropriate resources Experience working with under-represented populations and demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity and academic success of community college students A clear understanding and appreciation of the training and educational opportunities, services, and resources available through the community college system. Awareness of the complex needs of a diverse student population attending community colleges and a working knowledge of student and career development theory Ability to effectively advise students regarding academic requirements, career preparation, and personal development Ability to effectively collaborate within the TRiO team, and with on- and off-campus partners Effective written and oral communication, and presentation skills with the ability to adapt to the knowledge and needs of the audience Must be able to effectively plan and implement program activities Must be able to work independently, manage several projects simultaneously, and keep to deadlines Must have a working knowledge of online tools such as Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); communication platforms (Teams, Zoom, etc.); Learning Management Systems (Canvas), databases, and file storage (Canvas, SharePoint, etc.) Ability to quickly learn new technology and information systems specific to the WA Community and Technical College system, Green River College, and TRiO Preferred Qualifications:

A personal background like those of TRiO-eligible students Experience in providing direct service to college students, preferably in a student support role Ability to speak another language in addition to English, preferably in one of the top languages spoken in the Kent and Auburn communities: Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, Somali Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Student Development, Social Work, or related field Understanding of Guided Pathways initiatives and programming Supplemental Information
