Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. or its territories. Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or deemed equivalent by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA residencies who meet basic requirements may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed and can only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. They are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged. Major duties include interpreting X-rays, CT scans, MRI, US, with expertise in mammography, IR, neuro-imaging, and body imaging being a plus. Ability to protocol exams, collaborate with staff, participate in conferences, and supervise others is required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Compressed schedules are offered.
