Seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in SQL Server database administration and software development to support an Intelligence Community customer in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in database performance tuning, security compliance, and .NET development, with a focus on delivering end-to-end solutions from design through deployment and customer training. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects with a security clearance requirement, contributing to impactful government technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of database-driven solutions supporting enterprise applications. Administer, install, configure, and monitor SQL Server environments both on-premises and in the cloud. Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and security hardening for mission-critical databases. Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions. Apply DoD STIGs and SCAP compliance standards to database and application environments. Collaborate with software engineers, system administrators, and analysts to design and implement scalable solutions. Develop and support application components using .NET technologies and integrate with SQL databases. Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, STPs, system admin guides, and user manuals. Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Python for database and application tasks. Provide end-user support, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior team members. Job Requirements
U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance and ability to pass a CI polygraph. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Minimum 8 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, including design, performance tuning, maintenance, and security. At least 3 years of software development experience using .NET technologies (ASP.NET, VB.NET, ADO.NET). Experience with AWS Cloud services, including RDS, EC2, and S3. Strong knowledge of DoD STIGs, SCAP compliance, and database security best practices. DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (CISSP, CASP+, or equivalent) required before start. Proven experience with disaster recovery and high availability strategies. Excellent communication, leadership skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
