The County is revising and expanding its response to help all affected. We are seeking qualified and passionate individuals to help address issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. Department: Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) seeks qualified candidates to fill an Executive Assistant vacancy. Under the emergency order, applicants meeting the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. A performance assessment will be conducted before the end of the initial period; scoring is weighted 100% for permanent appointment consideration. Work Location: Economic Opportunity Headquarters, 510 S Vermont Ave, 11th Fl, Los Angeles, CA 90020. This position will be mostly in person. Responsibilities Performs as the Department Head's liaison with departmental management, the Board Offices, County Commissions, other County departments and public officials. Develops departmental administrative policies for the Department Head related to operations and prepares instructions for their implementation. Provides consultation in the development of new plans, systems and policies. Analyzes correspondence and reports on departmental activities; makes recommendations on disposition. Responds in writing or orally to sensitive or controversial inquiries or complaints; prepares official correspondence and materials for the Department Head. Conducts legislative analysis and recommends changes in legislation; serves as legislative liaison with the Chief Administrative Office; may represent the department on legislative issues in Sacramento. Identifies new programs and services and conducts feasibility studies. Conducts special assignments, management studies, or programs as directed. Represents the Department Head at meetings, as directed. Qualifications Education : A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college. Experience : Three years of experience in a responsible staff, advisory, or administrative capacity analyzing and recommending solutions for organizational, procedural, program, budget, or personnel problems. Each additional year of such experience may substitute for one year of college, up to four years. Staff capacity is defined as work that includes assisting and supporting administration by doing research, analysis, and making recommendations on personnel utilization, fund allocation, workload, and programs/procedures. Advisory capacity in the county includes researching, analyzing, and recommending to management on organization, budget, personnel, information services, programs, facilities planning, materials management, and general management. Administrative capacity in the county includes experience analyzing and recommending solutions for organization, budget, personnel, information services, programs, facilities planning, materials management, and general management. Licenses License : A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions. Physical Class Physical Class II - Light : Administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional lifting to 10 pounds and some bending, stooping, or squatting; considerable ambulation may be involved.
