Fiscal Sponsorship Allies Inc is a charity thatprovides fiscal sponsorship services for charitable projects. FSA serves as an incubator for new charities, helping them thrive in their first few years of existence. The charitable project raises the funds, and FSA takes care of the tax exemption and donation receipts.

About the Position

Working primarily from our office in Indianapolis for the first 90 days, theAccounting Managerperforms accounting tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. This position is hybrid eligible with the option to work remotely up to 3 days per week after the first 90 days depending upon performance. It is a bonus if this person has experience in nonprofit and/or legal accounting and wants to make a difference. Come help us save the turtles!

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Invoices clients in a timely and accurate fashion each month
  • Answers client financial questions (about invoices, flat-fee projects, etc.) with compassion and accuracy
  • Monitors cashflow and assists with cashflow projections as needed
  • Ensures all entries are consistent with GAAP and accrual accounting.
  • Daily supervises the completion of bookkeeping and accounting tasks such as managing the Quickbooks Online bank feeds, entering bills into Bill.com for approval and payment, and similar
  • Processes returns requested by clients or attorneys
  • Deposits checks and performs banking transactions within the two-touch internal control system
  • Completes inter-company allocations and transfers as requested
  • Interfaces with the outsourced controller to coordinate month close activities, such as account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Annually completes year-end activities (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, etc.) and provides materials for and answers questions of the independent audit firm.
  • Assists with budgeting for the organization
  • Manages/accounts for client trust accounts
  • Conducts periodic reviews to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Follows internal control and all other financial policies
  • Regularly communicates the status of tasks and special projects with the leadership team
  • Completes or ensures completion of all annual business filings and renewals, including Business Entity Reports, attorney license renewals, membership renewals, insurance renewals, etc.
  • Stays current on best practices and educates internal team members and clients on trends and regulatory or compliance changes
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in legal or nonprofit
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar
  • Preferred CPA exam-eligible or CPA license
  • Comfortable with standard technology platforms including QBO, Google Sheets,Excel, Gmail, Google Calendar, Bill.com
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn how to use CRM software like Salesforce for report generation and data management purposes (prior experience not needed)
  • Desire to help nonprofit organizations reach their missions
  • Strong time management skills
  • Personal and professional integrity and business ethics, as well as respect for others
  • Positive and “can do” attitude

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position has a full earning potential of $95,000-$120,000. Additional benefits include our 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan with a 5% employer match, health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, paid opportunities for professional development and continuing education, and other personal and professional benefits.

The first 90 days of the position will be in the Indianapolis office. Dependent upon performance, this position will have the option to work a hybrid schedule, with up to three days per week remote.
