Job Description

Our client is a company in the greater Minneapolis area looking for an Accounting Manager. Our client is looking for someone with 5+ years of accounting experience, cost accounting and inventory experience and strong analytical skills.

The salary range for this position is $109k-170k

Responsibilities

  • Manage key assembly and kitting costing components, including standard cost updates and maintenance of lot sizes, labor, and overhead rates.
  • Ensure accurate costing methods and run rollups and revaluation processes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain processes for monitoring the completeness and accuracy.
  • Oversee review of transfer orders between distribution centers to ensure proper costing.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for timing and accounting of standard cost revaluations and labor/overhead updates.
  • Collaborate with Operations on reconciliation and reporting of multiple Warehouse Management Systems to the General Ledger.
  • Review and analyze landed costs to ensure accuracy.
  • Work with Supply Chain Analysts to calculate and manage excess/obsolete inventory reserves in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Reconcile all inventory-related accounts.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve reconciliation differences; identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Provide monthly P&L analysis and reporting of Cost of Goods Sold variances versus budget, prior year, and trend.
  • Provide monthly analysis and reporting of Inventory Balance Sheet accounts versus budget, prior year, and trend.
  • Develop and maintain reporting for cycle counts and inventory adjustments by location, vertical, and reason code; reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Create additional analytics/reporting as needed.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on inventory cost accounting in NetSuite, ensuring end-to-end understanding of cost flows.
  • Oversee loading and validation of inventory files for acquisitions and NetSuite implementations.
  • Act as SME for NetSuite upgrades and lead inventory-related testing.
  • Provide inventory accounting leadership during site closures as applicable.
  • Partner with Pricing/FP&A to analyze and resolve negative margin sales issues.
  • Manage work direction for Staff Accountants, including mentoring and development.
  • Lead or support special projects as needed to support the broader finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Cost accounting and inventory experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detailed orientated, and a problem solver.
